At Toyota, driver safety has always been and continues to be the main focus of every vehicle engineered. That's why many of the new Toyota models, including the new 2017 Toyota RAV4 and 2017 Corolla, come equipped with a number of standard interactive safety features through the Toyota Safety Sense system. The Safety Sense system will be offered in two packages: Toyota Safety Sense C for smaller compact vehicles like the Yaris, and Toyota Safety Sense P for larger vehicles like the RAV4.

The main features offered through Toyota Safety Sense P include: Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Control. The Pre-Collision System uses a cameras and lasers to detect the vehicle in front of you and determine if there's a possible collision, then will provide you with visual and audio aides to warn you. If you react on time, the system will also help apply the brakes, and if you fail to stop on time, the system will fully apply the brakes for you. Lane Departure Alert will, much as its name suggests, warn you if you start to inadvertently drift out of your lane, while automatic high beams will determine when to and when to not turn on depending on if there are any oncoming vehicles.
