Today is the opening day of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and we knew going into the event that Toyota was going to blow the doors off with whatever mystery vehicle they planned to unveil. Well it is a mystery no longer as our favorite Japanese automaker spent the morning pulling the cover off the all-new Toyota FT-1 Concept.
If are anything like us here at Lithia Toyota of Billings, then you have been wondering how long it would take for the company to get a new sports car back in to the lineup of new Toyota vehicles. Well the new FT-1 Concept is proof that performance and flashy style are making a comeback.
Crowds are snapping pictures of the new FT-1 as we type out this blog post, and who can blame them. The bright red paint-job accentuates a stylish body that looks like it was carved by thousands of years of wind and water. The stance of the vehicle is athletic and sharp, but the body panels are curved and sweeping as vents, ducts, and other inlets appear to improve aerodynamics.
The interior is minimal but futuristic and with racing seats and a distinct "Toyota feel" to the car it is certainly deserving of its name: "Future Toyota - One." Of course when it comes to concepts, we never know how much of the design will move to a production model, and how much is just flexing of creative muscles by the design department.
